Short Biography
Ellen holds the unique honor of being the youngest woman to ever serve on the Austin City Council. During her tenure, Ellen’s principled stances on high-profile issues changed the course of history on topics ranging from property taxes to ridesharing, both in Texas and beyond. She also successfully implemented the city’s first homestead exemption, providing tax relief to homeowners across Austin. She is continuing her public policy efforts as a Senior Fellow with the Texas Public Policy Foundation and was a key part of enacting meaningful property tax reform at the state level in 2019. Named a “Champion Woman” by the Independent Women’s Forum, Ellen Troxclair has been recognized nationally for her bold leadership and is a National Bestselling Author of Step Up: How to Advocate Like a Woman. In addition to her public service, Ellen is a residential real estate broker, a non-profit leader, and a wife and mom to three children under four. She is passionate about inspiring a new generation of women to pursue leadership roles in policy and government.

Ellen Troxclair is a small business owner, public policy creator, non-profit leader, and national bestselling author of Step Up! How to Advocate Like a Woman. She holds the unique honor of being the youngest woman to ever serve on the Austin City Council. During her tenure, Ellen’s principled stances on high-profile issues changed the course of history on topics ranging from property taxes to ridesharing, both in Texas and beyond.
Named a “Champion Woman” by the Independent Women’s Forum, Ellen Troxclair has been recognized nationally for her bold leadership. She is continuing her public policy efforts as a Senior Fellow with the Texas Public Policy Foundation and was a key part of enacting meaningful property tax reform at the state level in 2019.
In her “real” life, Ellen founded and runs a (residential) thriving real estate business, Troxclair Residential Group, and has been recognized as one of the best Realtors in the business by both the Austin Business Journal’s Profiles in Power Awards and Platinum Top 50’s Realtor Awards.
Ellen and her husband, Caleb, are the proud parents of three children, Juliette, Margaret, and Brooks, and are devoted to showing them the importance of giving back through non-profit volunteer work and community involvement. She is passionate about inspiring a new generation of women to pursue leadership roles in policy and government.
